Can You Believe What She Ate Today?

Royanne, about 14 months old, decided she wanted
some of our appetizer at Cotton Patch Cafe.
She now loves tortilla chips and hot
sauce. Not mild salsa, mind you, but
sicey, as she says.

A few weeks back she was curious about
my bowl at a Chinese restaurant and asked
to try the soup. Hot and sour soup, mind
you. She loved it!

Today Bruce brought in, from the garage
fridge, a big jar of pickled okra. I said,
"UGH!"
He said, "Now, listen, I found this at the
restaurant supply store. This okra really
tastes like pickles, really."

I said I wasn't going to try it but Annie
heard 'pickles' and she came running! She
asked for one. Last count, she'd had eight.
She probably won't eat any dinner!

Cameron Zoo

We braved the heat wave and took the
kids to the zoo. Abby insisted McKenzie go
with us.

Not long afterwards - notice the entry
area in the background - grandma was
asked to hold McKenzie.
(Later McKenzie wasn't available: she
was in the backpack!

This is what I called the bamboo
forest. Mom called it annoying weeds.
She said people have a real hard time
controlling it.

Posing on a rock.

Abby copying the lion.

This big turtle really intrigued the kids.

Kay handed it a juicy leaf from a
near by tree, served on the map.
It really chomped the map!

Abby kept feeding it and she was
really making me nervous!

2nd course!

Going in for the chomp!

Contact!

Crocodile or alligator?

A higher view.

US!

Liam kept saying
"Take my picture!"
He is often cold and went to the zoo, 102
degrees or something, in a long sleeved
shirt!!!

Royanne was laughing at the giraffes.

She couldn't believe how tall they were.

Did you know this giraffe fact?

We found a MISTING SYSTEM!

Annie said "Long legs, momma!"

Abby posing.

Royanne was really thrilled when the
elephant threw water over its back and
squirted water in its mouth!

She really wanted to touch it.

Peacefully resting in the heat.

Funny Words and Stuff

Royanne is really talking these days! Some of the things
she has said! I run and write them down, but they
are sooo much funnier with her inflection or
mispronunciations. That's something I
really can't write down. I hope I can remember
all the little details!

She spent a few days with Mimi because I
was pretty sick, and I missed her so!
Here are a few things she's said lately:

A few Sundays ago, after church when Mimi
and the cousins got in their car, Royanne
said "Where they go, Momma?"
I said, "They are going home now."
She said "Annie go, too!"
I said "No, we're going to our house.
They are going to their house."
She said, "That hard to do!"
and she cried a bit, sad to see
them go.

When talking about the trip to the zoo:
"Annie go to zoo. Dere (there) giraffe: real
tall, long neck. Elephant, he funny!"
(The elephant had sprayed water
over his back and squirted water in
his mouth).

"Momma, Annie have banana, right
dere (there)". She pointed to a
particular spot on her tray. I stress
particular!

"Annie go outside and play, now, please!"

"Annie take a bath, now, pleeeeeease!"

"JOYS!! (Rejoice)"

"Let's go and see Julie!"

My phone rang, and before I got to it, she
brought it to me and said,
"Phone for you, momma!"

She watches Pinky Dinky Doo on Noggin,
and often I hear her saying, "One day,
in the big city...", which is how that cute
show starts.

On the way home from church, Bruce and I
were discussing something or other, and she
was talking. I really wasn't listening to her
jabber and she said, plain as day from the
back seat, demanding attention:
"HELLO! 'body home?"
(She said body instead of anybody. It was
hilarious!)

At Hobby Lobby
in the back of the shopping cart:

-"Sit down, Royanne!"
-"Now?"
-"Yes, NOW!"
-Right now?"
-"YES! RIGHT NOW!"
There were two women watching,
really tickled.

Playing HEB Grocery Store

Have grocery cart, will shop!
She took her keys, purse and cell phone.
It was a riot!

I made her a little HEB grocery
store on some book shelves. She has
so much fun shopping and then putting
things away in her kitchen.
(She's not so good at the putting away
part, actually....)

Fun in the Kitchen

Guess who she talked into putting her in the
sink to play in the water!?...

It wasn't me!

However, I WILL take a picture
or two!

Same dance, different day!

Setting the table. She did it around the
perimeter.

Homemade mac -n- cheese.
Looks like I got it a little runny.

Ever Observant

Well, she caught the freezer not
strapped down and she was sneaky; she
got the bag of frozen peas and helped
herself to a little snack!

"I Excited!"

Wednesday Bruce had occasion to go by the
location for our MAACO. He was happy to see
that the demolition had begun! No one had told him,
so it was a most pleasant surprise!

Thursday we went
by to take pictures and I took the stroller
so I could easily control where Royanne went.
When we pulled in the parking lot, they
were tossing sheet metal off of the roof
to the ground, and she said "You see that?!"
over and over and over!
One of the guys on the roof waved at her, and she
covered her face, being shy. Soon after, she
was a flirtin'!

She said "I excited!" and on the way back to the
car, "Daddy's MAACO, Momma's MAACO,
Annie's MAACO!"
I have been talking to her about daddy's
new job and that is a place to paint cars
pretty colors and that she'll have a little
desk next to daddy's.

She understands, huh? :)

Colored Tub Time

We have some tablets that color the
water. You can get 7 colors if you
count black. Last night Royanne said
"I want blue and yellow: I want green."
How 'bout that!?

New Songs

Friday Royanne and I were playing in her room - I
was organizing her kitchen things for the
umpteenth time - and she was sitting in
the rocking chair. Suddenly she began to
sing, "The rains came down, and the
floods came up" with the hand gestures
that go along with the song "The Wise Man
Built His House..."
and I said, "I didn't know you knew
that song!!" and she said, "YEP!"

Then, yesterday afternoon, she was doing
these arm and hand gestures, hugging herself
around the chest and tummy, singing, "I all
tangled up, I all wrapped up in Jesus."

HOW PRECIOUS!

Thank you, BOCC teachers!
