Christmas Tree Decorating

Royanne is very much into Christmas. I like to think it
is about the decorated trees, the lights, the yards.
But, she's just three, so I have to admit it is
about anticipating Santa's arrival.

I love the way three year olds decorate!

This is the second year with the added blue ornaments.
Her bedroom tree is pink, pink, pink!

The Things She Comes Up With!

Royanne is with Bruce at MAACO today, on this
Black Friday.
No, I am not shopping today. I have a lot of
WBS to get caught up.

Kay just called me. She's at MAACO today.
She'd asked Ro what I was doing.
Royanne answered:
"She's minding her own business."

Thanksgiving

Setting the Thanksgiving table with her dishes!
I convinced her we needed china and she could pick the napkin rings.

Table completed along with framed menu.
Family tradition: playing games all day!
Small gathering this time.   :(
Liam is such a ham! A & L came later in the day for games and crafts.

Liam showing off his craft.

The three monkeys in what Annie calls her castle.
We really intended for it to convince her that her
sleeping quarters were better than ours. So far she's not
buying it. In other words, she likes our bed better.
Looks like she doesn't believe her ears!

Elfa The Elf Arrives

During lunch and story time, a package arrives!
It's Elfa!! He's come to visit again and sit upon the mantle.
It really works: telling her that her behavior is reported to Santa every night, that Elfa emails him!

Dental Dent Part 2 (aka upcoming dental debt, no doubt)

Before: a smiling, happy kid: perfect smile!

Afterwards: dented!  I was so scared, there was so much blood!
Lopsided, for sure, but A-OK afterwards! Nothing gets her down!

Dental Dent

Captain's Log: Wednesday evening 6:05 p.m.

All week, last week, when Bruce and I were at the convention, just a minor
bump on her head. After an afternoon of playing with the football, jumping from the fort and playing on the swings......

Royanne and Liam collided. Liam was left unhurt, but Royanne was sent flying into a low teak table, and her front tooth and the one next to it were both jammed up ¼ inch and back ¼ inch. There were e few big blood drips on the floor, Kay was trying to get the blood off at the sink to see how bad it was, I was trying to keep my composure……

We went to Williamson Seton on 1460. Luckily she didn’t have a big tear in her lip – I thought she must have, and initially, I thought her teeth had come through her upper lip. Which, in retrospect, would have been better, because now she most likely have these crooked teeth until the permanent ones come in. The emergency room was $1310, so I am not going to a dentist until I note a change in her injury. She is in bad pain, ”hates the taste of pain reliever” --- in her words --- and won't take any. Tried to give some to her last night and it came right back up. Poor sweet girl! But she was a trooper. She cried herself to sleep on the way to the emergency room, and was brave with the triage nurse and the doctor. Now, I have to get her to eat something. First the ear ache with the blister on the ear drum on Tuesday, and now this!
Mom said Abby and Liam were still very upset when she got back from the hospital (she drove us).

The Doctor Will See You Now

After a night of late late tears, repeated in the early hours
of morning, a trip to the doctor revealed what I
knew was developing:
Royanne's 6th or 7th ear infection.
Dr. Tompkins pronounced her ear had a
big blister on the ear drum.
I was glad she didn't ask if R was still drinking when she
was horizontal. Truth is, she enjoys a sippy cup of chocolate milk
while she watches a little TV before bedtime.
$175 and 5 days from now, things should be
back to normal.

Nickel

After the week we were gone from her,
she came back saying,

"Who put a nickel in you!?"

Brother & Sister(s)

While we were in California at the MAACO cruise &
convention, Royanne acquired a brother and
a sister.
Cautious to not discourage imaginary play,
I went along with it, asking questions and inquiring
about them. The girl, Shond, and sometimes
Shonda, lives in California and is in
high school. She's four years old.
The brother's name is Fond. And sometimes Fons and
at other times, Fonds.

She told me all about them. They are real to her!

UPDATE: Nov. 22, 2010:

She was pacing and talking to Shonda,
talking on the play phone in her play kitchen,
telling her about her day, making facial
expressions and using
good voice inflection. Now there is another sister,
Angie. And Fonds is sick; he has a fever.
